A FORMER X Factor hopeful made a special appearance at a Canvey supermarket.

Luke Britnell, 19, from Canvey was at Sainsbury’s in the Knightswick Centre to cut the ribbon at the launch of the new Sainsbury’s TU clothing range.

The former Cornelius Vermuyden School and South Essex College student initially wowed judges Gary Barlow, Sharon Osbourne, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh, when he appeared on X Factor earlier this month.

His catchy song, Think Positive, prompted praise for the teenager from people on social media.

However, his hopes of following in the footsteps of other Essex X Factor favourites were dashed when he subsequently crashed out of the competition.
