TELEVISION presenter and broadcaster Clare Balding was in Leigh to record the first in a new series of her BBC Radio 4 programme, Ramblings.
The show, which hears Clare walking through the countryside talking to interesting people, has been running for 15 years and has taken her all over the UK.
Clare tweeted yesterday morning she would be in the area, prompting plenty of suggestions from Twitter users as to where she should go.
She wrote: “Start recording a new series of Ramblings today, which makes me very happy. Walking this morning near Leigh-on- Sea.”
Advice on where her route should take her included visits to Hadleigh Park, Priory Park, Prittlewell’s walled garden and even a stop off at the Stop the World cafe for lunch.
The most popular suggestion, though, was going to Old Leigh’s cockle sheds.
In the 26 series of the showClare has made, she has walked with Toyah Willcox in Worcestershire, with taxidermists in Boston, and with a bereavement walking group in Shrewsbury.
