A 13-YEAR-OLD boy has died after he was involved in a collision on the A127 in Basildon.
Police were called to the Southend bound carriageway of the A127 close to its junction with the A132 in Basildon shortly after 8pm yesterday, following reports a pedestrian and a BMW car had been in collision.
Officers and ambulance paramedics went to the scene where they found a 13-year-old boy with serious injuries.
He was taken to Basildon Hospital for treatment but was unfortunately pronounced dead.
Officers investigating the collision arrested a 31-year-old man from Southend on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
He was taken to a police station for interview before being bailed pending further enquiries to report back on Tuesday, June 21.
Both carriageways of the A127 were closed while further scene investigations were carried out.
The road was fully reopened at 12.15am today.
Anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken to police is asked to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Essex Police on 101.
