Police have now named the teenager who died after a crash on the A127 on Monday night.
Joseph Sheridan, 13, of Wickford, was involved in a collision with a BMW on the Southend-bound carriageway of the A127 in Basildon shortly after 8pm.
He sadly died in hospital.
Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the incident, which happened by to the junction of Oak Lane.
They would also like to hear from any drivers who were in the area at the time who had dashboard cameras fitted to their vehicles, which may have captured footage of events leading up to the collision.

A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and bailed, pending further enquiries.
