A NEW look post office is set to open in Southend.
A Post Office "local" service will open at Bournes Green Post Office, Shoebury Road, Southend on Wednesday, April 6 at 1pm following a revamp.
Post Office Services will be provided from a low-screened service point located alongside the retail till.
The branch will close for refurbishment on Tuesday, March 29 at 5.30pm.
Services will be available much earlier, from 7am to 6.30pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
On Wednesday and Saturday services will be available from 7am to 7.30pm and on Sunday from 7am to 1pm.
This is almost 40 hours extra a week and the Post Office will be open at lunchtimes.
During the closure alternative branches are available, including the Thorpe Bay Post Office, The Broadway and Lonsdale Road, Post Office, Southend.
Michael Brennan, Post Office Area Manager, said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.
"We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local c community will meet customer needs. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future.”
