A BUS fire caused severe delays on the roads this morning.
The incident took place on the A130 between Rayleigh Spur and Sadlers Farm roundabout at around 6am this morning.
The A130 south bound link road between Bonvilles roundabout and Sadlers Farm roundabout was closed at about 6.40am and it reopened at 7.30am.
Traffic was slow moving traffic on the A1245 south bound from the A127 at the Fairglen Interchange.
There were also delays at the A130 Northbound between Sadlers Farm Interchange and the Bonvilles Roundabout.
Three fire crews rushed to the scene, one from Basildon Fire Station and two from Rayleigh Weir Fire Station.
A spokesman for Essex Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters tackled a fire which had engulfed a bus south bound on the A130 between the Rayleigh Spur and Sadlers Farm roundabout.
“The incident commander reported that the coach was 100 per cent alight.
“The fire crews tackled the fire wearing breathing apparatus and using one hose reel jet crews had extinguished the blaze by 07:10hrs. The road was closed southbound because of the danger posed by this fire.”
Traffic is currently slow moving on the A130 south bound between the Rettendon Turnpike and the A127 A1245 Fairglen Interchange.
Traffic is also queueing north bound on the A1245 from Rawreth to the Rettendon turnpike.
