Watch: Houses evacuated after huge fire on Canvey
Houses and businesses have been evacuated by police following a large fire on Canvey.
Essex Police and 11 fire engines are currently on scene of the fire in an industrial unit in Northwick Road.
A spokesman from Essex Police said: "We were alerted to the incident by our partners at Essex County Fire and Rescue Service just after 2.35pm.
"The police helicopter was enlisted to assist Essex County Fire and Rescue Service with thermal imaging.
"Several businesses and properties are being evacuated on Northwick Road and the surrounding areas.
"Pedestrians and drivers are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes where possible."
