Four crews were called to a vehicle fire inside a building in Basildon last night.

Firefighters arrived at a commercial building in West Mayne at around 9.06pm last night to find a vehicle alight inside.

The crews wore breathing apparatus to enter the building and managed to quickly extinguish the fire by 10.15pm and then ventilate the area to clear the smoke.

Two crews from Basildon attended, alongside one from Benfleet and one from Orsett.

The cause of the fire has been recorded as accidental.
