Police are warning residents after a series of similar break-ins.

Several burglaries have been reported recently in Benfleet and Hullbridge with a similar method used in all incidents.

These offences have taken place during the day and by forcing entry to the rear of the property.

A spokesman from the force said: "Please take an opportunity to review your security.

"If you have a side access, is there a padlock and is it good quality? Move wheelie bins and other items to prevent providing a climbing aid.

"If you can please install a decent alarm or CCTV system."
