EMERGENCY services flooded Wallasea Island after the body of a man was found in the water.
Police, paramedics and the fire service rushed to Wallasea Island, Canewdon, yesterday morning after reports a body had been found in the water at the island.
A police spokesman said: "We were called at 9.10am on Saturday, January 12, with reports the body of a man aged in his 60s had been found in the water at Wallasea Island.
"His next of kin have been informed and his death is being treated as unexplained at this time.
"A file is being prepared for the coroner."
Wallasea Island lies in the Rochford District. It is bounded to the north by the River Crouch, to the south east by the River Roach, and to the west by Paglesham Pool and the narrow Paglesham Creek.
It is not known which body of water the man was found in.
