A LORRY caught fire on the A127.
Motorists face long delays today following the incident on the road near the junction at Dunton Wayletts on the westbound carriageway.
Footage and pictures from the scene show the driver compartment, engine and windscreen completely alight at the side of the road.
Traffic is slowly reducing but there are still long delays in the area.
The smoke could be seen rising into the air from down the road.
The lorry caught fire shortly after 2pm this afternoon.
A spokesman for Essex Fire Service said: "Firefighters were called to a lorry fire on the A127 (London-bound) near to the Dunton junction.
"The lorry cab was completely alight.
"Essex Police closed slip road so firefighters could deal with the fire safely.
"The fire was extinguished by 2.55pm."
