BRITAIN’S Got Talent act from Rayleigh smashed her semi-final performance, as Simon Cowell calls her “genius”, despite not making the final.
Bethan Marshall, known as Mary P, got a standing ovation from the judges after her live semi-final performance on the ITV show.
She started her performance as “nice” Mary P by singing Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, before turning into “naughty” Mary P and signing “I like it” by Cardi B and “Bang-Bang” by Nicki Minaj.
Despite not making it to the final, Bethan said the experience was a dream come true.
She said: “It felt so surreal but absolutely amazing at the same time.
“The whole experience was like a dream.
“My journey on the show started way back in October, auditioning on zoom, so I cannot believe I made it to the live semi-finals.
“The crew behind the scenes are such wonderful people and look after you every step of the way, they are the people that have made the experience what it was.
“It didn’t all kick in until we did a rehearsal and Ant, and Dec ran down and shock my hand, that is when it really kicked in, but you forget the cameras are there, and just enjoy the performance that you’ve worked so hard to create.”
The judges were also wowed by Bethan’s semi-final performance with Simon saying: “I love that performance! Loved it, loved it, loved it. For every second I thought this was genius. I really think somebody like you, with your originality and everything that comes with you, should be in the final.”
Bethan said those words will stay with her forever.
She said: “I thought I was going to explode when hearing the judges’ comments, I couldn’t have got higher praise.
“Those words will stay with me forever.
“I am gutted I didn’t make it to the final but to be in the top 40 of thousands of acts is such an achievement and a once in a lifetime opportunity.”
Bethan now hope to follow her dream in the theatre world.
She said: “My dream now is to get an agent or manager from this, to then grow.
“Even tour as Mary P, and auditions for theatre shows.
“That is where my heart lies, in theatre, but who knows where this shall lead me, but all I know is that I am proud of myself, and I want everyone to know that you can follow your dreams if you work hard and believe.”
