Four people have been arrested in connection with a string of offences after police issued a dispersal order.
The order remains in place in Southend until 2am tomorrow and it covers Eastern and Western Esplanade, Marine Parade and the High Street.
Essex Police says there will be a significant police presence across Southend in the coming days and a zero tolerance approach to anyone of committing crime or behaving anti-socially.
The force also said the dispersal order it comes in response to incidents of anti-social behaviour and concerns raised by traders along the seafront.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "No significant incidents were reported after the order was put in place. Three arrests were made; two for public order offences and one for common assault. The British Transport Police also arrested a man for assault."

Acting Inspector Dave Gardiner said the rapid deployment of officers to the seafront proved effective in diffusing tensions that threatened to spill over in the hot weather.
“When we received reports of anti-social behaviour and large groups congregating, we acted swiftly and decisively to mobilise additional officers to the seafront. Our actions were successful in preventing disorder.
“Southend is open is business but closed for crime. Anyone coming here intent on breaking the law will have the strongest possible action taken against them.”
