TRIBUTES and flowers have been laid in a Basildon park where a body was discovered in the search for Madison Wright.

Many have visited Wat Tyler Country Park, in Pitsea to pay their respects and leave flowers down by the entrance.

This came after the park was closed for more than five days after a body was found.

It reopened on Friday, however a police presence and a cordon remain in place in parts of the Country Park.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Officers investigating the disappearance of Madison Wright from Basildon are continuing their enquiries at Wat Tyler Park.

“We are continuing to reach out to anyone who we haven’t spoken to already.

“We are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who was driving around the Pitsea area towards Wat Tyler Park in Basildon between 8:30am on July 22, and July 26.

“The park has now been partially reopened to the public; however, a police presence is expected there for a number of days.

“We would like to remind the public who may be visiting the park over the coming week to respect the cordons we have in place.”
