A road was closed overnight after a car caught burst into flames last night.
Essex Police's road policing unit say the driver pulled over on the A131 outside Chelmsford City Racecourse after smelling smoke.
The driver was able to escape and get well away from his Jaguar before the fire which resulted in the road closing.

Emergency services including Braintree police officers and Essex Fire and Rescue attended the scene, and roads policing officers have thanked them for their "quick response".
The road was fully reopened in the early hours this morning after the fire was fully extinguished and road cleared up.
