A new Southend nightclub has confirmed its opening date as Rhythm Room is closed for a major rebrand.

The Warrior Square nightclub was closed on January 29 for a "significant" refurbishment as it is rebranded into a Popworld.

Popworld is a chain of clubs, with sites up and down the country including one in Chelmsford.

It describes itself as a late night bar “with a difference” boasting bright colours, sweet cocktails, light-up dancefloors and back-to-back "cheesy" pop tunes from the 90s and noughties.

New photos last week (above) showed the transformation of the popular nightclub progressing swiftly.

Now, Popworld has confirmed the club will be opening to customers on March 3.

A Popworld Southend spokesman said on Facebook: "Are you ready, Southend?

"We will be opening on Friday, March 3! Keep an eye on our socials or sign up to our newsletter to stay up to date with all the latest news and offers for your new Popworld."

This is not the first time the city centre venue has rebraned.

Rhythm Room replaced the old Dick De Vignes nightclub, a longstanding venue in the city centre which ran for roughly 17 years and itself replaced Chicago Rock.
