Hundreds of fish have been removed from Canvey Lake with environmental agency bosses relocating the creatures.
More than 700 fish have been moved from the lake on the island after last summers heatwave saw a closure.
Last August, the Environment Agency and Canvey Town Council confirmed the lake was being closed for angling in the short-term due to a number of dying fish.

It was closed from August 10, until September 29.
A spokesperson for the Environment Agency said: “After a decision by Canvey Town Council who manage Canvey Lake, environment teams worked with local fisheries consultants to safely remove over 700 carp from Canvey lake this week.

“The fish have been relocated to a fully enclosed private gravel pit which is deep and remote. The project will run over a few winters and will hopefully make a massive difference for the sustainability of the lake.
“If members of the public have any concerns about water quality or see dead fish, we encourage them to report it to our free 24-hour incident hotline on 0800 80 70 60.”
