A British Airways plane was diverted to Southend Airport today due to strong winds.
The airline's city flyer E190 was diverted in to Southend Airport from London City Airport this afternoon due to high winds.
The planes used to be a regular sight, according to air traffic control, as they would often land at the airport when weather conditions meant they were unable to land in London.

"This can be for reasons including fog, thunderstorms, and in today's case, strong winds!"
The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning today, in place until 6pm, across Essex as well as London.
