Bringing wholesome outdoor living to Chalkwell Beach, Saltwater Sup teaches young and old the joys of life in the elements.

Jeff Carr and his team of qualified instructors teach people from eight years old and upwards. He started teaching paddle boarding in 2017 and began SUP racing in 2020.

“My wife Liz and I run the Saltwater Beach Cafe and we wanted to bring some of the outdoor culture we love in places like Australia, Bali and Cornwall, where there are lots of outdoor activities and wholesome, healthy, living. We serve vegan and vegetarian food in the cafe and encourage outdoor sports like paddleboarding,” said Jeff.

The school is open throughout the year. In the winter months the focus is on training for experienced paddleboarders and racing and the spring and summer months the school opens up for people of all abilities.

There are two sites, one at Hadleigh Country Park and one on Chalkwell Beach.

“Myself and my instructors focus on paddleboarding but within that we offer paddleboard yoga. We are licensed to take children out to learn, and we emphasise safety and potential hazards, so people have a complete training in paddleboarding,” said Jeff.
