Expanding London's ultra low emissions zone will "restrict" freedom that cars provide, a Southend MP insists.
The Ulez is a way of charging vehicles which emit the most nitrogen oxide for entering parts of London.
The scheme is initially within the same area as the congestion charging zone, before being expanded to within the North and South Circular roads from October 2021.
Anna Firth Tory MP for Southend West said: "Cars provide us with freedom, we can travel where we want, when we want. The ULEZ expansion is going to restrict this freedom.

"Although the ULEZ expansion won’t span as far as Southend, it will directly affect countless numbers of my hardworking constituents.
"The expansion continues to be raised to me daily, and I will do what I can ensure to my constituents’ voices are heard, and this expansion does not go ahead."
It costs £12.50 for most vehicle types, including cars, motorcycles and vans. Heavier vehicles such as lorries, buses and coaches are liable for a £100 charge.
