It is a family-run site rich in history after being opened back in 1967 by Rod Oldham at just 21 years old.

It is now run by Bradley Oldham.

According to reviews on Tripadvisor, the Oldham’s serve the “best fish and chips”.

One wrote: “Excellent. The best fish and chips I have ever eaten. Always consistent and staff are really friendly.”

Another added: “I think without exaggerating it is one of the best fish and chips I have ever tried.”

A third said: “Neither the chips or battered fish were greasy. The fish was meaty. Fantastic visit with the family.”

It is a family-run café with beautiful views of the Southend Estuary.

According to reviews on Tripadvisor the fish and chips is “fantastic”.

One wrote: “First visit for us and it was delicious food. Best fish and chips in Southend.”

Another added: “Probably the best fish and chips we have eaten in a long time. Well presented and delicious.”

A third said: “Stunningly good value for quality cod and chips.”

It is a friendly Seafood Shack with a bar and grill situated on the Eastern Esplanade.

According to the reviews on Tripadvisor the fish and chips is “excellent”.

One wrote: “This was the best fish and chips we have ever had; the staff are very friendly and always smiling. We cannot recommend this restaurant enough.”

Another added: “Lovely big portions, and crispy fish batter, that everyone enjoyed. The best fish and chips in the area.”

It is a family-run fish and chip restaurant and takeaway that first opened in 2009.

According to reviews on Tripadvisor the fish and chips is “one of the best”.

One wrote: “Absolutely the best fish and chips in Essex, and I would even say in the UK. Delicious batter.”

Another added: “Staff were very welcoming. Best fish and chips especially gluten free fish and chips.”

A third said: “The fish and chips were freshly cooked and lovely. The service was quick and friendly.”
