A rare Rolex watch bought new for £200 in the 70s has been sold at auction for a five figure sum.

The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona 6263, with the original box and paperwork, was bought new from an Epping High Street shop by a gentleman in 1975 for £200.

He had only worn the rare watch on a few occasions.

Before its sale at Stacey's Auctioneers in Rayleigh yesterday, the luxury item was expected to fetch up to £30,000.
