A rare Rolex watch bought new for £200 in the 70s has been sold at auction for a five figure sum.
The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona 6263, with the original box and paperwork, was bought new from an Epping High Street shop by a gentleman in 1975 for £200.
He had only worn the rare watch on a few occasions.
Before its sale at Stacey's Auctioneers in Rayleigh yesterday, the luxury item was expected to fetch up to £30,000.

However, it was evident to the auctioneers from early on with the numerous enquires that it would surpass the estimate.
Several bidders competed online up to £45,000, but it was sold for a final bid of £45,500 to one of the five competing telephone bidders.
The buyer is UK-based.
