STAFF at a pre-school are delighted following a second consecutive “outstanding” rating from Ofsted.
Trinket Box Pre School in Greenways, Southend, was given the rating – the highest possible – following an inspection in April.
Trinket was rated “outstanding” in all categories and commended for providing its pupils with “challenging” and “exciting” experiences.
Ofsted’s report read: “Children engage in language-rich conversations with both friends and adults.
“They delight in the wonder of nature as they take part in forest school sessions.
“Leaders have developed a broad and ambitious curriculum that promotes children’s learning and development across the seven areas of learning.”
Trinket Box Pre School is run by a committee and operates independently in the grounds of Greenways Primary School and Greenways Infant School.
The school received its first “outstanding” rating in 2017.
There are 20 members of childcare staff to look after the school’s 74 pupils.
During their visit, Ofsted inspectors spoke to staff about the school’s curriculum and what they want the children to learn.
Observations were made into the quality of education provided both indoors and outdoors, as well as the impact this was having on children’s learning.
Parents were also given the chance to share their views on the school’s performance.
The report added: “Staff have an exceptional understanding of how to keep children safe “They show a secure knowledge of the indicators of abuse and know how, and where, to raise a concern.
“Meticulous checks ensure the safe recruitment of staff. This means that only those who are suitable to work with children are able to do so.”
Annabel, school manager, said: “We are delighted that we have maintained our Outstanding judgement.
“All staff at Trinket Box work incredibly hard to ensure that the children’s needs are met. We provide a nurturing, language rich environment encouraging the children to make great progress; regardless of their different starting points.
“Achieving outstanding gives staff the recognition that they deserve for all their hard work. We are extremely lucky to have such dedicated individuals on board, both staff, and our committee members who volunteer.”
