"MOMENTUM for new and returning routes is on the up" at Southend Airport as another destination is announced.
Southend Airport and easyJet bosses have shared this news this morning of new flights to Grenoble.
Grenoble is the largest city in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region of southeastern France.
It is most famous for its beautiful setting in the Alps, as well as its many museums and historical landmarks.
Flights with easyJet start on Sunday, January 14, 2024, and are once a week, every Sunday – and are already on sale.
The new Grenoble route just adds to the number of growing destinations at the airport including Malaga, Majorca, Faro, Paris, Geneva, Alicante, and Amsterdam.
Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK Country Manager, said: “We are really pleased to be offering more choice and great value for our customers with the launch of another route from London Southend Airport to Grenoble, which we know will be popular with those thinking about winter holidays.
“Whether that’s for a winter sports break or to enjoy the picturesque scenery of the Alps and we can’t wait to welcome customers on board.”
Families, foodies, and thrill-seekers alike flock to Grenoble for the pinnacle of the French Alps experience, Southend Airport bosses say.
John Upton, CEO of London Southend Airport, added: “The momentum for new and returning routes from London Southend is on the up. Ski breaks to the cultural capital of the French Alps is a great opportunity for London Southend.
“We are delighted to serve the demand in our 8.2m catchment from London east and the southeast of England connecting passengers that live within one hour of London Southend.
“Passengers can embark on their winter adventure with unparalleled ease by using our dedicated train station just 100 paces from the terminal – 52 minutes from London Liverpool Street, 43 minutes from Stratford and just 65 minutes from Oxford Circus, with connectivity via the Elizabeth Line at Shenfield.”
Echo Facebook users also shared their excitement.
Lyn Fryatt said: “Fabulous news. Keep going Southend Airport.”
Jaime Blanco Carrasco wrote: “Brilliant news. Let’s hope that more destinations will be announced for 2024 too.”
Jo Timson added: “Just keep the new routes coming so this wonderful airport cements its future.”
Tivvy Judy Stovell said: “French Alps here we come.”
