After conquering the West End and Broadway, a five-star ‘theatrical phenomenon’ is coming to Cliffs Pavilion in October as it embarks on its biggest adventure yet.
Based on Yann Martel’s best-selling novel, Life of Pi is a breath-taking new theatrical adaptation of the epic journey of 16-year-old Pi as he is stranded on a single lifeboat in the middle of the Pacific Ocean with a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan and a 450-pound Royal Bengal tiger.
The award-winning production is coming to the Cliffs Pavilion in Southend from October 10 to 14 on its first ever UK tour.
Life of Pi, which concluded its West End run on January 15 and first opened to critical acclaim at the Crucible theatre in Sheffield in 2019, features an extraordinary life-size puppeteered Bengal tiger.

The production won five Olivier Awards in April last year, during which - in an historic first for the Olivier Awards - the seven performers who puppeteer the tiger were collectively awarded best actor in a supporting role.
A European tour will follow the tour of the UK and Ireland and there are plans underway for a tour of Australia and Asia.
Tickets for the Cliffs shows range from £20 to £64.50. To book, visit southendtheatres.org.uk/online/tickets-life-of-pi-southend-2023.
