Organisers of the world-famous Oktoberfest are expecting their "biggest year yet" as the event returns for its fifth year in Southend next week.

Tickets have been selling out fast for Oktoberfest Southend with "huge demand" for the festival as Saturday evening has fully sold out while only standing tickets remain for Saturday afternoon.

Standing and seating remain for Friday evening, but all the VIP tables - which include entry for up to 10 people, table service and the best views of the stage - have been sold.

Oktoberfest offers a huge selection of traditional German Bier which can be served in up to two pint steins, as well as German food including bratwurst and pretzels.

There will also be a range of other drinks including cider, prosecco, spirits and wine.

Festival-goers will be treated to performances from Oompah bands performing their very own blend of ‘oompop’, support bands and DJs across all three sessions.

The huge event will be hosted at Priory Park on Friday October 20 and Saturday October 21.

The evening sessions on both days will be from 6pm to 11pm, while the Saturday afternoon session is from 12pm to 5pm.

Tom Cullen, marketing manager for Oktoberfest, previously commented: “The demand for tickets has shown us how big Oktoberfest is going to be this year. We are expecting our biggest year yet.

“We are also delighted that after working closely with the events team at Southend Council, we are able to bring this unique event to the local area.

“Ticket sales have demonstrated the great economic benefit this event will bring to the city, by encouraging more visitors and supporting local businesses.”
