THE leadership at a Westcliff secondary school has been bolstered by the arrival of a new headteacher.

Chase High School, in Westcliff, was rated good by Ofsted for the first time in its history last year after the arrival of headteacher Jamie Foster.

As the school strives for further improvement, Mr Foster has now taken on the role of executive headteacher and has been joined by Matt Suttenwood, who becomes headteacher.

The duo is now working together to ensure the school provides the very best education for its young people.

Mr Suttenwood joined the school after previously being deputy headteacher at Marshalls Park Academy, in Romford.

He has spent his first couple of weeks as headteacher getting to know students, families and teachers in the Chase community, as well as “what the school is about”.

He said: “I was attracted to Chase because of the community feel of the school; the kindness, the drive, the ambition – of the students, staff and parents.

“I am incredibly excited to be headteacher and proud to be in front of these young people and having them listen to my vision, which completely aligns with that of the trust and what Mr Foster has already set out. It is a privilege to be here.”
