A CORONER has suspended an inquest whilst police continue to investigate the death of a 74-year-old in Eastwood.
Sharon Butler was found unresponsive on Tuesday, November 7 at her home in Eastwood, with paramedics attending the address and confirming shortly before 10pm that evening she had died.
On Friday, area coroner for Essex Michelle Brown opened the inquest into Ms Butler’s death before suspending it so police can continue their enquiries.
She said: “I will initially suspend it for six months and we can revisit it in due course.”
Kevin Shepherd, 54 of Whitehouse Meadows, Eastwood, has been charged with her murder and has been remanded in custody to next appear at Basildon Crown Court on Friday, January 5, 2024.
