Part of a major south Essex road has been shut since this morning causing long delays for motorists today.
One lane is closed due to gas main work on the A127 Southend-bound from the A1245 (Fairglen Interchange) to A129 Rayleigh Road (Rayleigh Weir).
Due to these "emergency" works from before the A129 at the Rayleigh Weir towards Daws Heath Road, drivers have faced long delays on the major road approaching the closure.

There was also slow traffic during the morning rush hour on the A130 northbound to the A127 - and the A1245 southbound to A127.
Slow traffic remains on the A127 due to the closure as well as roadworks, between Nevendon Interchange and Fairglen Interchange.
It is unclear how long the lane closure will remain in place.
