A CORDON is in place as police are on the scene of a "serious incident" at Shoebury Garrison. 

Essex Police say they are carrying out an investigation in Shoebury with some roads closed whilst this takes place. 

The roads affected are Chapel Road and Horseshoe Crescent.

Essex Police are yet to confirm what they are investigating and have just stated it is a "serious incident". 

Officers are reassuring the community stating it is an "isolated incident". 

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Our officers are currently at the scene of a serious incident in Shoebury. 

"While they carry out their investigations there is a cordon in place and some roads are closed to motorists and pedestrians.

"The roads affected are Chapel Road and Horseshoe Crescent.

"We know this will be concerning, but we would like to reassure the local community that we believe this is an isolated incident.

"We thank you for your patience and we will update you as soon as we are able."
