A warning has been issued to residents over an unapproved event which was being advertised in Southend.

Posts shared on social media claimed an event advertised as 'The Big Jump - Inflatable Park' was due to take place between August 15 and September 5.

However, Southend Council confirmed it had not been approached by any organisers nor had it approved the event to take place in the city.

Trading Standards says the website has now changed and does not feature Southend, but is warning anyone unsure of event credentials to not book tickets.

A spokesman for Southend's Trading Standards said: "We are aware of an event that was being advertised locally as ‘The Big Jump – Inflatable Park’ taking place from August 15 to September 5.

"The council has confirmed it has not been approached about a booking or approved this event in Southend.

"There are authorised inflatable fun day events taking place in Chalkwell Park on August 15 and August 22, Priory Park on August 20 and Southchurch Park on August 27.

"We are aware that the website has now been changed and does not feature Southend but would encourage anyone who is unsure of a site or event credentials to not book tickets or share any personal information.
