AN EASTENDERS star paid a surprise visit to children at Little Havens children’s hospice to present a cheque to help pay for local youngsters’ care.
Jamie Borthwick, 14, who plays Jay Brown in the popular BBC One soap, dropped into say “hello” and present a cheque to youngsters at the hospice in Daws Heath Road, Thundersley.
Jamie, who won Best Dramatic Performance from a Young Actor at last year’s British Soap Awards, said: “Everybody in this business should visit charities like this and do their bit. I’ve really enjoyed today, it’s been great.”
The actor was introduced to the charity through his godfather, Geoff Turner, who is vice-chairman of the Master Locksmiths’ Association.
Mr Turner, along with association president Val Stokes, decided to raise money for Little Havens through various events in 2008 and brought Jamie along to present a cheque for £5,000.
