A WOMAN has admitted to stabbing her on-off boyfriend to death at her Southend flat.
Helen Plews, 42, pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Brian McDonald following an argument at the flat in Ashburnham Road.
She killed Mr McDonald, 40, from Grays, with a kitchen knife on October 3 last year.
Senior investigating officer Det Supt Tim Wills said: “Helen Plews and Brian McDonald were in the process of resuming their relationship when this incident occurred.
“Brian died at the hands of his partner following a night where alcohol had been consumed by both.
“An argument at Helen’s flat in Ashburnham Road resulted in her using a kitchen knife to stab Brian once in the chest demonstrating how easy it is to pick up a knife and kill without thinking of the consequences.
“Knife crime in this county is thankfully low however one death is one too many.
“My condolences go to Brian’s family and I hope they can now start to move on and rebuild their lives.”
Sentencing has been adjourned until Monday, July 27, and Plews has been remanded in custody until that hearing.
