Billericay MP John baron has been forced to pay back more than £8,000 of taxpayer's money claimed through expenses.
The £8,821.10 repayment relates to interest claimed on a £34,035 loan he obtained through re-mortgaging his second home in Billericay.
Parliamentary rules do not allow this.
Mr Baron tried to avoid paying back the cash, but his appeal following the Sir Thomas Legg Review, on grounds it was agreed by two fees officers, was rejected, a Parliamentary report published today reveals.
Other south Essex MPs who had to pay back money include Southend West MP David Amess (£1,100.06), Rochford MP James Duddridge (£480.88) and Basildon MP Angela Smith (395.81) Don't miss tomorrow's Echo for the full story and further exclusive revelations on Monday.
