Firefighters tackle tyre fire in Basildon street
FIREFIGHTERS were called to a tyre fire in Basildon last night.
Black smoke could be seen as a pile of tyres burned in Havengore, Basildon at around 9.50pm.
Crews from Basildon, Rayleigh Weir and Chelmsford tackled the blaze for an hour.
Basildon station commander Keith Dunn said: "Crews worked very hard in extremely difficult conditions to put the fire out.
"A lot of black smoke could be seen in the area when we arrived and we found two large piles of tyres."
