POLICE are treating the death of a man found in a Hadleigh park as unexplained.
The body, of a man in his twenties, was discovered shortly after 5am at John Burrows Park, off Rectory Road, on Monday.
Paramedics rushed to the park, but nothing could be done to save the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
A police spokesman said: “His death is being treated as unexplained and a file has been prepared for the coroner.”
Tributes have poured in online for the man, who is yet to be identified.
Pauline Halsey said: “Sleep tight young man. Some family somewhere are going to be devastated today.”
Amy Spiers said: “RIP to this very young man, thoughts are with his family”.
Victoria-Rose Bradley said: “Very sad news and so close to where I live. I’m shocked. RIP whoever you are.”
Residents spoke of their shock after the discovery of the body, which will now be dealt with by the coroner’s office.
A dog walker, who did not wish to be named, came across the body while walking his dog early in morning.
He said: “I was just walking the dog at about half seven and one of the other dog walkers said, ‘watch, there’s a dead body’.
“There were police standing there by a blue tarpaulin. We didn’t go anywhere near it, it’s not what you expect.”
Resident Olive Shore, of Springfield, Hadleigh said: “I’ve lived here for years, my house looks out onto the park but I didn’t hear anything. I came through the park at about 10am and didn’t see anything.
“I haven’t ever heard of anything like this happened before, it’s quite quiet really, dog walkers use the park and children play here. There aren’t many people in the park early in the morning. It’s a nice park.”
