A ROAD near the A127 has been closed while fire crews tackle a blaze in a lorry full of builders’ waste.
Firefighters were called to the fire on the A1245 at 10.30pm last night.
The road was shut to allow firefighters to deal with the incident safely.
Firefighters cut away at the trailer to get access to the contents on fire, and used the aerial ladder platform to pour water on the vehicle from above.
An Essex Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Due to the large amount of contents this fire will take hours to extinguish. The road will remain shut for the safety of the incident.”
Update 9am: The fire is still smouldering and crews are continuing to cool the lorry's contents.
Update 11:30am: Firefighters are still at the scene tackling the fire.
