PROTESTERS who tried to stop last year’s Dale Farm clearance claim they will try to evict communities secretary Eric Pickles on Friday.
They will target the offices of the Department for Communities and Local Government to mark the anniversary of the Dale Farm eviction.
They will try to disrupt operations at his offices from 1pm, Intending to give Mr Pickles “a taste of his own medicine”, as they hold him responsible for the eviction by releasing money to allow Basildon Council to carry it out and since strengthening powers against illegal sites.
Some protesters will be dressed as “the people’s bailiffs” on the day. Oscar Farrell, a supporter who resisted the eviction last year, said, “Last year I couldn’t believe I was seeing 83 families made homeless by the government; but it’s not just Dale Farm, it’s happening all over the UK and Eric Pickles is leading the attack on travellers. Evictions can only ever lead to more evictions.”
