MONTEL Agyemang says he is unsurprised at the fine start he has made to life at East Thurrock United.
The former Leyton Orient and Millwall midfielder joined Rocks from Maldon & Tiptree in the summer.
And he impressed in the early weeks of the season.
Agyemang has already scored four goals this campaign, matching his total for the entire of last term.
And he said he is enjoying life in the National League South.
“I have really enjoyed it so far,” said the tricky 20-year-old attacker. “I have adapted well to the role the manager wants me to play and the boys have been good with me.
“The way the team plays suits my style. I have the ability to take people on but I like to link play as well.
“If I am given an instruction I will back myself to do it.
“I want to thank God for the effect he has had on my development, and I hope I can achieve more.”
Agyemang has already netted against Hampton & Richmond Borough, Poole Town (two) and Braintree Town, helping Rocks to third in the National League South.
And he is feeling confident ahead of a bank holiday double header against fellow play-off place occupants Bognor Regis Town and Dartford.
“My aim was to get a few goals and to get four already is really good,” he said. “It gives me more confidence and shows I can do it at a higher level.
“Last season I got four and it shows that hard work pays off.
“I know I can do it but need to continue to push on.”
Agyemang is childhood friends with Femi Akinwande, who is also at Rocks.
The two came through the ranks at Millwall before heading down different paths.
They played together at Maldon last season, and Agyemang is pleased to link up with the striker once again.
“There are good guys at East Thurrock and it is great to play with such a good friend in Femi,” he said.
“We know each other so well and that can be important on the pitch.
“We have known each other since the age of six and I hope we can continue to do well.”
