SOUTHEND United defender Harry Kyprianou has been selected in Cyprus’ under 21 squad.
Echosport revealed last week how Kyprianou was being considered for a call-up.
And his place has now been confirmed for two European Championship qualifiers in quick succession.
Cyprus are away to Hungary on Thursday before hosting Sweden next Tuesday.
And Kyprianou – who qualifies to play due to his grandparents being born in Cyprus – will be hoping to get the nod.
The defender has made 11 appearances for Blues this season but will not be available for Saturday’s clash with Rotherham United.
Kyprianou will become the second Cyprus international on the Shrimpers books with Jason Demetriou a regular in the senior set up.
