LIFELONG Southend United supporter Martin Trenaman is heartbroken by the current state of the Shrimpers.

The Inbetweeners star – who has been watching Blues for more than 40 years – was at Roots Hall for Saturday’s 1-0 win against Gateshead.

But he is now among those fearing he may never get to go back.

“I’m really concerned,” said Trenaman, who grew up in Southend.

“We’ve gone from one disaster to another like a toddler with a flame-torch and it’s just insane.

“I’ve been coming here for 40 odd years and I love this place.

“It’s part of me and it’s part of the community as well.

“No-one wants to lose it, least of all me.”

The Shrimpers will be back in court at the start of March due to a winding up petition issued by HMRC.

But even if Blues do manage to pay the bill – which is believed to be close to £2million – Trenaman still has fears for the club’s future.

“It’s not just about March 1st, I think we’re worried about the future as well if we get over that massive hump,” said Trenaman.

“What’s going to happen after that? I’m really worried and it’s heart-breaking.”

“Let’s hope it’s not the last time we’re here and we do get to Fossetts Farm and get a new owner because that’s what we need.”

The Shrimpers players are still waiting to be paid for January while some staff at Roots Hall have not been paid since November.

And Trenaman is now among those wanting controversial chairman Ron Martin to sell the club.

“We’re all fed up and we’ve all had enough of the current owner,” said Trenaman.

“It’s just one thing after another and it’s not good enough.

“Football clubs aren’t just about the football, they’re about the fans.

“Players and managers come and go and so do owners but it’s the fans who make the club.”
