SOUTHEND United chairman Ron Martin insists he will not be fast-tracked into selling the club.
The Shrimpers owner revealed at Roots Hall earlier today that he was keen to move on.
And, despite admitting it could take time, Martin would ideally like the new chairman to be in place before the start of next season.
“This process could take many months,” said Martin.
“In an ideal world I’d like to see the transition in time for the new custodian to have their DNA on the club for next year.
“So by July/August, if they missed that window, it will not be possible.
“But it won’t be fast-tracked and we will not be selling to people who we think won’t be looking after the interests of the club.”
