Statutory Notice of Proposal to Change Category to Foundation Status
Notice is given in accordance with section 19(3) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 that the Governing Body intends to make a prescribed alteration to Thundersley Primary School, currently a Community School, of Thundersley Primary School, Hart Road, Thundersley, Benfleet, Essex, SS7 3PT.
The proposed alteration is to change the category of the school from a Community School to a Foundation School (without membership of an external foundation) from 1st October 2014. This would mean that the Governing Body would become the employer of the School Staff and the freehold owner of the school land. The school would also become its own admissions authority, meaning that it could manage its own admission appeals rather than relying on the Local Authority. The school would value this increased independence in taking the school forward and believes that a change of category would benefit pupils by enhancing their opportunities. Taking ownership of the land would safeguard the school’s future and enable the school to move forward with its strategies for improvement.
