A TALENTED young girl has won a place at a coveted arts school.
Alex Athene, 12, of Hornbeam Chase, South Ockendon, auditioned for the Abbs Cross School and Arts College in December last year, with 200 others hoping to gain one of only 17 places.
Alex, who is a member of the Splitz Stage School, in Aveley, was delighted after receiving a letter confirming she had been accepted.
She said: "I love to perform and have a big passion for dance. This is a dream come true."
Cheryl Walsh, principal at Splitz Stage School, said: "This is fantastic news and I know this means a lot to her.
"Alex is an outstanding student who is always progressing. She gives an outstanding performance in every production.
"I wish her every success for the future."
