SAPWELL Maureen Betty Passed away peacefully at home on the 29th August after a long a courageous fight with cancer. Former Head of English at King John's School, a champion marathon runner, expert fly fisher, author and poet!. She was much loved and will be greatly missed by her Family, friends and devoted Husband. No flowers but donations to Guy's and St Thomas's Charity. Free post ad mail, 4245, London, SE1 8RG.

Mrs Sapwell was my English teacher through my GCSEs and A levels and helped me get an A in combined English A Level. She was so lovely and I remember her teachings on how babies learn language to this day and use it with my son. Shows she was an inspiration as I did my A levels in 1998!
