AN artist’s royal model has made her an international success.

Hazle Boyles’s pottery creation dedicated to Prince George of Cambridge flew off the shelves within 24 hours.

The model, which is part of her best-selling collection Nation of Shopkeepers, is a ceramic shop based on ancient buildings in St Albans.

It has details of the new Prince’s birth, weight and time of delivery included on a scroll, which has been highlighted with 22-carat gold.

Windows in the shop are filled with classic toys the young prince would love to play with and next door is his own personal treats shop.

Only 66 models of the limited edition piece were made – the figure was chosen because Prince George would be the 66th monarch, if Charles and William also took the throne.

Now Hazle, who is based at Billericay’s Barleylands Craft Village and Farm Centre, is having to adapt other shops in the collection to have Prince George’s details.

She began creating royalthemed shops and streets for the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, and also made figures for the Diamond Jubilee and William and Kate’s wedding.

She said: “I suppose you could say our royal items have catapulted us into the American market.

“Americans like our high streets because we have hundreds of years of history in them and they don’t have that.

“We now know we can generate sales with good royal memorabilia because we have customers who appreciate the work andlike the connection to the royal events.

“William and Kate are such a charming couple. As well as the fact William is in line to the throne and Kate is beautiful, they seem genuinely likeable.

“Everyone can relate to them getting to that stage of getting married and having children.

"It’s lovely and good for us all.”
