A TEENAGER spent a day in police cells after stealing food from a supermarket.
Harry Flett, 19, walked into the Co-op at the Laindon Centre and helped himself to £10 worth of food, including sandwiches and biscuits.
A warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to attend an earlier court appearance relating to the incident, which took place on March 29.
He was tracked down by officers last week and taken into police custody.
During an appearance at Basildon Magistrates' Court, Flett, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to one count of theft and was ordered to spend the rest of the day in the cells.
