SUPPORT continues to grow for the new Southend Airshow, which is set to take place next September.

The Essex Military Support Association, organisers of the popular Armed Forces day, in Rayleigh, are now on board to help with military activities at the airshow.

The association will bring its military expertise and event management skills to the show, which is scheduled to take place in September, 2014.

The Rayleigh Armed Forces event was one of the largest in Essex and welcomed 12,000 people to the King George’s playing fields.

It was the only Armed Forces Day in the region to feature aircraft, such as the Eurofighter Typhoon, Spitfire and Sea King helicopter.

The association’s Dan Rodgers will join airshow organisers John Delaney and Tom Curtis to help drive the project forward.

He said: “I am absolutely delighted to be able to accept the offer of the Southend Airshow and Military Fest - ival team to join them in putting together one of the county’s most iconic events.

I will be working closely with both John and Tom, as well as my own team, to bring a top level event to south Essex.”

Mr Delaney added: “Dan and the Essex Military Support Association team are an important addition to our event plans with Dan heading up the military aspect of our event.”
