A HEN party staying at a Southend seafront guest house complained of a “disgusting” smell...then found a corpse rotting in the next room.
The group were staying at Benson’s Guest House in Hartington Road, just yards away from the town’s busy nightclubs in Lucy Road.
Friends of the bride-to-be told a the Sun newspaper how the hen spent the night vomiting due to the foul smell at the bed and breakfast.
When they complained on Friday, staff reportedly said they couldn’t enter the room next door to theirs because it was rented to a permanent tenant and they needed permission.
A cleaner discovered the man’s body when she went into the room on Saturday morning.
The group, from Windsor in Berkshire, said they spent the weekend “spraying deodorant everywhere”.
The Echo approached the manager of the guest house, which is just off the seafront behind the Cornucopia pub, but they declined to comment.
