ESSEX police arrested 82 people attending V Festival in Chelmsford.

Officers said 54 of these were for drug possession, 17 for drug-dealing, four for assault, two for rowdy and disorderly behaviour, two for theft one for one for disqualified driving and one for drink driving.

The majority of the drug arrests were aided by sniffer dogs.

Policing co-ordinator, Chief Supt Andy Prophet, said: "All our officers have been doing a great job, working with the V-Festival organisers to make sure this fantastic event is a safe and fun one.

"The work of our drugs dogs in sniffing out those in supplying drugs has been a key element in our tactics this year and its one that has worked really well.

"We would like to thank all the festival-goers for taking note of our crime prevention advice and hope that they enjoyed the weekend.

“We would urge people to be mindful of their alcohol limits if they are going to drive home at the end of today or in the morning and be patient as the roads will be busy after the festival ends.”

Anyone who experiences crime at the festival can report it to Essex Police at the mobile police station or by calling 101 or 999.
